Program That Trains Parents as Classroom Support Raises Student Literacy Rates, Improves Relationships

“The Promise Parent Leadership Academy, which guides parents to act as advocates and instructors, led to higher benchmark test scores of up to 50 percent among first and second grade students, especially those who were lagging, and improved trust and communication between staff and families, . . .”

This project improved student achievement while the parents bridged the cultural gap between the school and families and also provided parents with the their own skills to be successful in life. This is a project is a win-win for all involved.
